This is a Lionel Postwar box insert. I'm hoping somebody can ID it for me. The magazine is there only for size comparison.
Thank-you for looking.

Have you tried it with a 600, 602, or 613 diesel switcher? If it fits it would still need the end pieces. Usually these switchers are found without any inserts and thus the original boxes suffer a lot of damage. Inserts for those switchers are very hard to find.
What are the dimensions?
Richie
Are there any black wheel mark indentations? I didn't see any. If not, we can rule out locomotives and rolling stock.
The longest dimension is 10", height is 2-15/16" and 1-15/16.
No diesel ever went inside this insert.

Also, inserts like that were dropped for the most part by 1955, so it's early postwar.
It shows some signs of use but no wheel marks. It is too narrow to have held a car or loco. The dimensions I posted are outside dimensions. It's pretty narrow inside.

252 Crossing Gate.
153 block signal? the signal head and contactor fit in the cutout? Just a guess at this point.
Definitely one the accessories mentioned above, that's why I asked for the dimensions.
Richie
A 252 crossing gate would make sense.
The 252 it is! I just searched for 252's on eBay and there is one there with the the box and insert. That's what I have. Thank you ADCX Rob. And a Thank you to all you other guys who offered help.
