Up to now I have been committed to MTH PS2's and 3's as my "working" engines because ot the inherent speed control feature. Recently I purchased a Legacy EMD GP9 new (6-34667) when I realized that it came with On/Off switch speed control (guess I haven't been paying attention). So far I am thoroughly impressed with this engine!  My only nit is that there is no indication in the manual on how to fire the electro-couplers in conventional mode.

Is there a way to fire the Legacy electro-couplers in conventional like the bell-whistle-whistle-whistle sequence for an MTH PS2 or 3? Or do I need the Cab1L or equivalent to do that? I'm guessing the latter but doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks

Don't think there is a way to intentionally open the coil couplers on any TMCC or Legacy engine with out a remote unit and base.
