I bought this set a few years ago and took it out of the box to see it and then packed it back up until a couple of days ago when I took it down to the club to see it run.  I unpacked it and put it on the main and powered up the track, on the DCS controller I followed the instructions and it had lights and sound but when I tried to get it to run, it just sat there and would not move.  The tender markers and light would come on and go off when I changed directions, the cab light would come on and I could clang the bell and blow the whistle but it would not budge, it would just sit there.  Would anyone who is very knowledgeable about DCS have any thoughts as to what the problem(s) might be.  Secondly, if anyone happens to have the manual that came with this set, would you mind contacting me off list (sptrainnut@att.net), I would really appreciate it.  Thanks for your help, I look forward to hearing your answers.

He gave the model number Alan, it is PS-3.   You can down load the instructions on the MTH website.

Sounds like your drawbar not fully installed.  Or your missing data signal to engine.  The tender is getting power so you have sounds and tender lights.  But if the engine does not get data from the tender, you will not have engine lights, smoke or motion. Make sure connector on engine is fully seated into drawbaw under cab or along drawbar if it has extended drawbar.  Make sure fully snapped into tender when attaching.  Do it with engines on side so you can see.  G

Lou 1985, I did look at the engine but could not see if anything was binding, I'll check again and thanks for your response.  Alan, it is not a PS 1, it is a PS 3, thanks also for your response.   GGG, I'm going to have to figure out how to make sure the DB is fully connected to the socket and that it has a good connection.  I will do as you suggest and lay both engine and tender on their sides and connect them and make sure they are fully engaged and there is a good solid connection before putting on the track.  Thanks for your response and I really appreciate everyone's responses.

If that is not it, it is shells off and continuity checks.  6 wires in tender to drawbar and into a 6 pin connector in the engine that plugs into a 8 pin connector on the boiler board.  There have been bad solder joints on drawbars, broken or poor connectors on the harness, pushed out connectors in the holder......

So lets hope for not seated drawbar.  Classic tender with power engine not getting any data or control voltage.  G
