I have a Weaver U25B with a TAS EOB board with cruise control. I think it was from their last release of the U25Bs. I have another without cruise control that I’d like to have cruise. Could I tether the units and power all four motors with the EOB electronics?

Additionally, if somebody has an EOB board they could sell me, that would be an option as well.

Thanks for any help, I’ve never messed with this kind of thing before.

I have not swapped out the triacs in the EOB board but have installed 16 amp triacs in a SAW board I think they are teccor 4016 triacs  I'll check when I get home late Sunday night may be Monday . I have been driving 4 Mabuchi 545 motors in a pair of lionel Alco PA-1 with that SAW board for several years now. I think the EOB uses the same triacs as the SAW board's teccor 4008.    Almost forgot I am driving 4 mabuchi 365 motors in a MTH UP Veranda also with a TAS SAW board but I left the stock teccor 8A triacs on that board. I did make sure the heatsink plate was well attached to the frame with plenty of  thermal paste to conduct the heat to the loco frame.  I moved the bridge rectifier down on that heatsink also.              j

EOB installation manual    Click on the underlined phrase.  At the time the boards were designed for ???? 8 amp capacity ???? Components for the board may have had less capacity.  Some where, 20+ years ago, there was discussion of powering (4) motors. I could be wrong and often.  Mike CT.

Reference: page 3 of Introduction, above noted EOB installation manual: " It is O.K. to run, up to, 4 DC can motors........".  "Do not attempt to run more than, 4 can motors".

Correction to my earlier post the Teccor Triacs are Q4015L5 and are 15A devices not 16A.   I plan to try driving 6 motors with these drivers in a TAS SAW board they do fine with 4 motors.  They should work with a EOB board but I have not tried.  Plan to. If anything the cruise may be affected.           j

FWIW I am driving six Mabuchi RS385s with a single ERR Cruise M rated for 6 amps.

Its not the running current thats an issue, in this case they only draw just over an amp total running light but the stall current you have to consider. Stall current on one is just over 2.5 amps so 15 amps total.

Best add a fast acting fuse if you exceed the current rating of your devices.

Also as someone who has replaced a half dozen EOB boards after they fried their triacs running two motors I wouldn’t try adding more.
