Can Trainsounds from a Lionel Polar Express Steam Sounds Tender be put into the tender of a Lionel 0-8-0 steam rtr starter set?

It should not be a problem as some of the starter set 0-8-0s come with trainsounds.

Kenn, I was thinking of going to same route, with upgrading my tender with trainsounds too. How did your upgrade go.

Mike, have not yet tackled the mod I started this thread with but did a much simpler one for the tender on my Lionel rtr Strasburg RR starter set.

I was able to snag a new  Lionel O 6-30200 New York Central Flyer Freight Train Set with RailSounds for $209 which has a tender identical to the Strasburg tender. So mod was accomplished by merely unscrewing the screws at ends of both tenders, swapping the tender shells and rescrewing them. A few minutes total time invested and aside from now having RailSounds for my Strasburg set which is definitely better than TrainSounds since it's two channel vs. single channel audio, I figure if I sell off the items in the NYC set seperately I'll break even cost-wise or possibly even make a few bucks. A definite win-win situation.

Now if I find there's a Lionel tender identical to the Polar Express rtr set one that has RailSounds then I'll do the same thing again rather than the more complicated mod I mentioned in starting this thread. So, if anyone reading this knows of a Lionel set tender identical to the P.E. one except for it's shell roadname and that it also has RailSounds, please email me. Thanks.
