So a friend of mine bought a wrench that is stamped with the following initials:

F N(W) T & C N & E S & (_) A RRY CO

They are all one line but uneven.

Lots of &s in there, which suggests more than one road, but, according to him, the letters all appear to have been stamped at the same time.

Does anyone have idea what road(s) this might be?

Well, RR is a common abbreviation for "RailRoad" and RY is a common abbreviation for "RailwaY". But I've never seen "RRY" used in a railroad name to mean either one.

I wonder if the stamping - or at least part of it - has to do with the company that made the tool - like "Rogers, Roberts and Young Co." or something like that?

Thanks for the efforts and the suggestions, gentlemen!  I like the idea that part or all of it might be the manufacturer.

I haven't seen RRY, either, but I have seen other kinds of errors in the use of standard abbreviations, and something like that might be involved.

All very intriguing and maybe not clearly explainable.
