Picked up this car at a local auction the other day. It is a hopper, it is painted almost prier red, it has/had Frisco decals on it, I messed up and put it in the dish washer. It has a decal # 5751290, it has sheet metal couplers that mate with Lionel knuckles, it has stamped steel, type prewar trucks, and on the bottom is a fellows name ( Leonard H. Schenk ) ( St Louis Mo. ). any ideas? Please don't tell me I ruined a rare a valuable car! It looks almost hand made.

Prewar Lionel trucks, sounds like American Flyer couplers, and looks like either an American Flyer or Ives body. Would need more photographs to be certain. Either way I am 99.9% sure that it is a modified model from the prewar era.
Valuable - almost certainly not.
Interesting - certainly is. A keeper.
The name "Leonard Schenk" does ring a bell, though...maybe a "customizer" from the 50's or something...?
Ok here's more pics of odd ball o-gauge hopper car!

I would wait for Greg's opinion, but I would say that is a hybrid Lionel/American Flyer piece that was custom painted.
How long is it? Also, move this topic over to the tinplate section would give you a better chance of getting help.
