I have two of the same LionChief Plus engines (no. 38778 CNW RS-3s) that I want to MU. Can that be done, or does the fact that they have the same remote (these engines came with their own remotes) mean it wouldn't work? Would using the Universal Remote instead make any difference?

You can run them together with the single remote. You just won't be able to have options like tail-to-tail or selective operation of the electrocouplers just on one engine.
Thanks, John. Thinking about it, I don't think the electrocouplers will be usable at all - regardless of which coupler is activated, the engines are going to uncouple from each other.
I regularly run 2 LC CNJ camelbacks with same one LC remote. Looks neat and whistles sound great together at same time. Walter

These engines don't have a coupler on the front, so how do you hook them up?
In any case, running two steam engines is a different scenario, because you don't have to worry about running them tail to tail. Different situation for diesels. Such running is preferred, but it can't be done.

Correct.
Just add a proper dummy coupler.
