A couple months ago I bought a Kline 5343 Hudson but after about three weeks of having this model the speed control started to not work how it is supposed to, I realized that when it goes into a curve it would lose its speed control so I suppose it is a problem with the Kline tether is uses. I went to go find one after a month of searching and no luck I saw that someone at my local train club had taken a ps1 locomotive and upgraded it to TMCC. From what I saw it looked like it used the same tether the ps1 locomotive originally had. This is where my question comes in. Can I takeout that old Kline tether and replace it with a MTH tether

Yes, you can so long as you also replace the engine end of it to match.  Also, the four wire TETHER used by Williams and Weaver can also function as needed, so long as the "complete tether" is used, tender and engine receptacle, together.  As for plugging an MTH tether into a K-Line engine mounted plug, the pin spacings are different.  I have performed many change outs of tethers/plugs and upgraded numerous of my PS-1 to ERR TMCC/RS products.

If has TMCC, the tether is not the problem. Its normal for a TMCC engine that does not have cruise control to slow down on hills and curves. Cruise compensates for that but you are saying it does not have cruise.

Your engine will run without the tender attached. Try lubricating all of the moving parts and see if that helps.

So long as the wires on both ends of the tether (M/F) go to the same places on the boards, pickups and so forth, any tether can be used anywhere, if you get desperate. Tethers are available on eBay and elsewhere. ERR used to sell them. These required "some assembly" (easy soldering), but you traced your original wires and paired them up the some way on the new tethers. Just a thought. 

Obviously you can replace a 4-pin tether with most any other 4-pin tether.  That presumes the gauge of the wires is sufficient for the task.  Like stated, when I do a TMCC upgrade, I use the 10-pin MTH tether, either straight or right angle, depending on the locomotive.  I typically use either 7 or 8 wires for the conversion, depending on if the chuff switch happens to be in the tender, or is in the locomotive, which is more normal.
