hello and happy Christmas

im on the lookout for a MPC era Canadian Pacific F3, either alone or in a set. There was a rare one issued in the mid 1970's; come up,on the bay for between 375 (90 to ship to Washington!?) and 500. This set looks good but I'm probably going to get some passenger cars for it.

There was a set from 1973, cab numbers 8365 and 8366. They don't come up too often, but if you take some time you should be able get them for well below the price range you list. I sold the set below on ebay last year for $125.

These are pretty nice looking, but not a lot of detail, and not much in the way of features. If you're looking to spend $300-$500 there are probably better, newer options.

Patience is the key when looking for a desired item, or else you'll overpay.

The K-Line version is nice as is the MTH DAP set from around 1999 which includes the aluminum cars. Also a Railking Scale version which is a virtual clone of the PW 2373 Lionels with added detail and excellent PS2 sound and control. Lionel issued a 'Postwar Scale' version that is excellent too.

Each of these are different and appeal to different people. Do a little investigating to see which are best for your desires. As mentioned above, the MPC set is very limited in pulling power as well as lacking the level of detail found on all of the above.

There may be others that I've forgotten...
