Going to a steam tractor and antique construction equipment show in the area of Canandaigua N.Y...anyone know of any railroad related things to see?...thanks...joe

Not much train related in Canandaigua but the Finger Lakes Railway runs out of Geneva just up US20 down either side of Seneca Lake.

Since you will be coming via the NY State Thruway, most likely, if you visit Geneva, there is a hobby shop there, just east of Canandaigua.

There are two RR museums just South of Rochester. They are adjacent to each other and pretty nice. Two separate groups run them, but cooperate.
If you are coming PA, there a nice RR museum right off I90 near the state line with NY. It has a lot of NYC stuff and is right on/next to the NS mainline (old NYC).

If going up Rt 17, you can try the O&W Museum in Roscoe, NY. Be sure to check on their hours though.
