No it isn't! The 2-6-6-2 that will be brought to the Western Maryland Scenic RR is a C&O class H-6. Plus, that locomotive, #1309, is the VERY LAST locomotive produced by Baldwin Locomotive Works for ANY U.S. railroad.
in Baltimore. This C&O loco pre-dates and was used as a partial basis for the USRA 2-6-6-2.
No again. The C&O H-6 class #1309 was manufactured in 1949, and was based off the original USRA compound Mallet designes of 1918, but highly modernized.
The C&O had both (classes H-5 and H-6).
The C&O had H-4, H-5, and H-6 2-6-6-2 compound articulateds.
It's a Compound, making it unusual - unique? - among US excursion locomotives.
I have no link.
