I am having a problem with the above engine. When compared to my TMCC Lake Erie Scale Berkshire, The C&O Berkshire has poor speed control. The slowest speed is too fast and the chuffs are two per revolution vs 4 on other engine. I would have thought that since this engine is Legacy and more modern it would have more precise speed control. I am running Legacy vs. 1.3 and this is the locomotive that came with the C&O empire building set.

Did you make sure to set it up as a Legacy engine and not a TMCC or CAB-1 engine?
2-Chuffs was common for TMCC engines but as far as I know all the Legacy engines have 4 chuffs
We just traded our Erie Berkshire No 3315 from 2003 and it only had two chuffs if I remember correctly. Is this the same loco (Lake Erie) you are referencing?
Although it had Odyssey with the switch, it would not not run real slow like most of our other locomotives. A great steamer in other respects however. Amazing detail.
That's a bummer that the speed isn't that good, all my Legacy locomotives seem to have great speed control. I find that the older Odyssey I locomotives don't have nearly as good speed regulation.
It sounds like you mixed them up, the speed control should be better than your tmcc berk and it is supposed to be 4 chuffs. Seeing as the chuffs are "cam activated" I don't see how a legacy loco could only chuff twice.Heres video of this loco from another forum member. As csam said your erie berk is a 2 chuffer. Almost sounds like someone swapped the shells.
