C&O Heritage Site, Clifton Forge

I'll never forget the three NJ Transit trips that I rode behind her at track speed (79 MPH). Open vestibules, no diesels and no slip and fall lawyers aboard (that I know of).

On one of the trips, she carried a N&W hooter for the guest of honor, O. Winston Link. That was trip that I decided to carry only my scanner and forego photography and audio recordings like I did on the other two. 

Here is one of my audio recordings as we departed Port Jervis and climbed Shawangunk Mountain out of the Neversink River valley. 10/26/97

Thanks for visiting.   The O-gauge layout in the freight house is going under for a complete overhaul this winter.  Should be an announcement soon to come detailing those plans.   if your not a member you should consider joining.   Its money well spent without question.

Thank you for the photographs!!  Looks like a great place to visit.  I don't recall seeing signs for it when we were through Clifton Forge.  Oh wait, we were there between 1985 and 1990!!  Time flies!!  I took a look at the Website, but did not see any information dating the museum, just a history of the C&O itself.

This year celebrates 30 years of the COHS being based out of Clifton forge.   However the heritage center has only been around for roughly 10 years.   The society has an archive building and an annex facility a block or so away from the heritage center.  

Jeremy, Thank you!  Well there you have it, we went through just around the time the C&O Historical Society was establishing itself in Clifton Forge, and way before the Heritage Center.  There is another place to add to our retirement travels!!

I'll second that.  Free admission to the Heritage Center and the subscription to the magazine are both worth the price of membership.
