Hi Guys I have a MTH Premier CSX  AC6000 20-2266-1Proto 2 that  I have run many times. I was getting a check track error several times and finally gave up and deleted engine thinking I can always add an engine. I have several MTH engines so not a new thing for me. At this point whenever it gets put on an active track it will start up on its own and sometimes even more on its own. I have tried to Add it several times.I have about 10 engines on my layout so I thought it may be getting confused. So I set up a test track with only this engine on and same result. I will run in conventional mode on my test rack I think. In other words it starts up and moves back and forth using the Z-4000 only. Thanks for any help guys this is one of my favorite engines.

Also what is the correct way to correct a check track error other than what I did ?

Thanks

Joe

It sounds like you have a failure on the circuit board of the engine, or very bad wire connections/dirty tires and wheels.

The number provided did not come up.  Is this PS-2 5V or 3V?

I assume the engine is running fine in conventional?  If so, clean engine and make sure terminal wires connected well to trucks/pickups.  If still no joy adding, the board is suspect.  Depending on which board this is determines if it can be repaired at the component level.  3V boards yes, 5V boards maybe,   G

Battery seams ok voltmeter shows solid 20 .  Should I still try a new battery or does that seem ok?  I charged overnight.  Engine very clean. Low hours.

Im sorry I had the voltmeter on the wrong setting. Its 9.4  I am not the original owner and the battery is Green. Is it worth trying a new battery even though the power looks fine ? All the connections look perfect. Engine clean. I may have to take up to the local hobby shop and let them fix it. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions.

Here is what I would do, change the battery and set it on the track and charge the new battery for about 15-20 minutes. Kill the power till it shuts down completely.  Next I would do is repower the track and do a Factory Reset via Transformer. Then recover engine on the DCS Remote. Hopefully this helped and other inputs did as well.

Does the engine start up in conventional every time   upon powering up dcs track?

If the engine stayed dark & silent there  might be hope .

Well again  ( forgive me Im new ) the engine is dead in the water. Unless I jiggle it around on the tracks to try to get some life out of it. Then sometimes it starts up. makes noises and does nothing else. Once in a while it goes around the track at around 10 SMPR until the hand of God pulls it off since there is no way to stop it.. I even set up a test track to mess with it since I was messing up existing engines on the track.  Fun hobby......when everything works :-)

If it is moving on conventional there is hope.  But if this makes you feel better. I just finished rewiring with LEDs an Atlas cab that the electronics board fried, Even better one of my GN GP30s 5v board also died over the weekend. Love the smell of burnt wiring in the morning.
