I just received a GE Hybrid PS3 & when I try to load it it says not on the track even though it lights up. I have an other Hybrid & I changed it's  name so as not to confuse it with the newer one  as the book  says.I hope I'm making this clear enough. They are identical  but I can't get it to program.

Give it a nudge or turn it around. Are you using a programming track or equilvant? I know you can add engines without using a programming track but once the errors start you'll be big trouble, ex - established engines adding again with new IDs  Unknown IDs showing up, etc.

I'm assuming the tiu & remote are communicating and you have a perfect track signal where you're trying to add the engine.

If you don't have a programming track take all your engine off the track or park'em on dead siding.

Engine should add even if it powers up in conventional mode (could be wrong on this one) No way to test at the moment.

I've tried all nthis but nothing. I can run the engine with the remote but when I actually try & load it, it tells me no engine to add. As I said I changed the name on my other Hybrid & that works fine. I've cleaned the track, etc. but still no luck.

Please explain how you can run with the remote if an ADD has never happened.
i am guessing that the engine is in the remote as an inactive engine.

Well I finally solved my problem. Thank you to everyone who offered possible solutions. Iwant to especially thank Gerald Jackson who let me phone him and talked me thru everything. Without his help I never bwould have solved this. I also want to thank Dave Minarik from Mercer Junction (where Y=I bought the GE Hybrid) who called me on his day off to offer me help. How many businesses call you after the sale!! This is the 2nd time I have done business with him & it definately will not be the last.

I too had issues with my latest add. (PS-3 Imperial Northern, just arrived last week)

I just dropped it on the main near my entryway and powered up the layout.

Hit add Engine, Remote waited a bit then said  "No engine to add"

I grabbed the scotchbrite and scrubbed the track right there and tried it again, It loaded right up.

I ran it around the main loop and it stumbled several times and completely stopped & powered down once.

So I took it off the layout and fired up the ol' standby 2-8-0 with the MOW consist.

The MOW consist includes 2 of dennis' track cleaner cars, one with scotchbrite and one with paper towel pad.

A few laps around with that (and 2 changes of the paper Pad, Wow was the track dirty) and I parked it back on the siding.

Tried the new engine again and it runs great!!! Smooth at 1 SMPH !!!!!

See, that's what I get for hardly running my trains all summer !!!
