Driving in to Baltimore this week, I noticed the Canton RR had given new paint to their SW1500, and one of their GP's.
The 1500 is painted with a fresh Black coat, and lettering Freestate Logistics Services. The GP still bears the Calvert cross on the cab, but "Maryland" is painted low along the diesel housing. A web search revealed that the Canton is expanding into Cecil County under the FSL portion of the company.
"Free State Logistics, a subsidiary of Canton Railroad headquartered in Baltimore, is eager to grow its presence in Cecil County.
On Wednesday, John Magness, president and CEO of Canton Railroad, told members of the County Economic Development Commission that he hopes to meet in January to develop a marketing plan targeting Cecil County. Included in that meeting will be the county’s office of economic development, officials from CSX railroad and owners of Principio Business Park."
Those of you with the MTH Canton locomotives, might want to hang on to them, as at least one of the paint schemes you have has changed.
Sorry no pics. Can't get a shot driving by.
