The MRRV opens to the public this Tuesday 11/24/15, we will be assembling the lobby displays tomorrow Monday 11/23, I'll let you know what if any actual Lionel displays will be in the lobby.  We have trains from Lionel's archives along the wall on the 2nd floor in our MRRV display.  If anyone would like to see the new additions and upgrades which we just finished during the layout shutdown, I'd advise you to be there before black Friday since the lines get longer every day, from the layout around the robot area and down the ramp. Hope to see you all, happy holidays.

Their railroad days event usually happens mid-December.  Keep an eye on their web site as they usually announce it there when they publish their holiday schedule (which starts the day after Thanksgiving).  If they hold to the pattern of previous years, it will be held the same weekend as the Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour, which is the weekend of December 11th this year.

As a separate attraction for the tour, John DeSantis' incredible house and standard gauge train collection and layouts are open to the public (for a fee) on the Saturday coinciding with the CSC event (if they keep to tradition).  It is very close to the CSC and is worth the time and effort to visit.  Both can easily be done in a day with plenty of time for other activities in the evening.

Speaking of the CSC, if they are showing Rocky Mountain Express again this year on the Omnimax (they usually do), it is worth seeing.  Steam locomotives running in the Canadian Rockies on a huge screen - need I say more?

If by "the day Lionel shows up" you mean the day when Lionel brings in a massive layout, then you want to be at the Science Center for Locomotion days. This is an annual event held throughout the science center, where several clubs (including the Hi-Railers and the DARE Model Railroad Club) bring in portable layouts. This year, Locomotion Days is January 9th-10th, 2016.

Trainhead, we set up the displays in the lobby of the CSC, we have a Lionel xmas tree with operating trains, and 3 display cases of Lionel items mainly Lionel's version of accessories as the duck shoot, reading room, man taking a bath in a tub, mother walking her baby to sleep in her bedroom, etc., that were hand made on our MRRV layout.  If you are asking about Locomotion Days as others have pointed out that will be on Jan. 9th and 10th.
