Just wondering. How do lighted cars work on DC track? Arent the designed for AC?

Huh? They are light bulbs, they work on AC or DC. If you are talking about 2 rail DC, the wheels are insulated from side to side, so to pick up power there are wipers on each wheel to get power. 3 rail wheels are not insulated side to side, so you can't use them on a 2 rail layout.

Yes i was referring to 2 rail. I knew the engines were designed that way, but thought the cars were just regular AC type cars. I didnt realize the cars are either made that way or modified. Thanks!
Oh no, the wheels need to be insulated, even on any freight car, or they would short out the track.

Not sure how the wheels on 2 rail O scale track are insulated but American Flyer has a metal wheel and a plastic wheel per axle on their tenders and the center of the axle has a copper piece to pick up the electric from each set of wheels.

2-rail O will either use 2 plastic wheels per axle, or two metal wheels on an axle with a plastic or derlin bushing on between the axle on one or both of the metal wheels.
This is a Weaver truck w/2 plastic wheels per axle:
