Carving up Plasticville for windows/doors and details.

Just for my own knowledge and curiosity, why would someone carve up a Plasticville kit or built structure to get windows/doors/detail parts when those items are already individually available from a variety of other manufacturers ?

I kitbash Plasticville.....but when I need windows or doors I use Tichy castings.

A) many in fact are not available. B) Price. These can be found for a few bucks at train shows all the time. Far less than the cost to ship from a vendor of detail parts.
