Work continued on the Casey Jones High Railers modular layout this weekend.
We worked on the crossings in the area of the icing station and the scenery around the oil storage area and its siding. Here are a few pictures.
David is making more wooden fence sections to cover the fascia boards on the inside of the module. The fence sections really do a great job in improving the looks of the modules and adding depth to the scenery.
Frank and Nep are working on the scenery around the oil storage area and the adjacent siding. They are using dirt and ground stones to give this area a rough look. The lamp is not scale! The massive HO and N scale layouts can be seen in the background.
Work continues on the city scene, which will be elevated above the modules. The paint stirring sticks will be used to make sidewalks.
Mike Kelley built this combination tower / freight house from a MTH tower and the freight house portion of a Rico station. Mike, if I were you I would not leave this structure laying around the modules. It might disappear and end up on my layout!
I am adding three crossings for gravel roads in the area around the icing station. Next week I will sand down the inserts between the tracks, stain the cross ties inside the tracks and apply gravel to the roads and shoulders of the crossings. I am also going to add culverts under the crossings between the tracks. We certainly do not need any flooding! A Lionel PS 1 boxcar makes sure the flanges in the tracks are clear.
The road crossing leading to the hill top store is coming along. A rocky hill is being added in this area to give the look of a “cut” dug into a hill for the railroad right of way.
I would like to thank Killian for explaining to me how to add text under the pictures. He showed me how to do this in another thread. I appreciate your help Killian.
Thanks for looking at the pictures and have a great week.
Richard and the Casey Jones High Railers.
