Hello everyone,
Believe it or not, it's not easy to catch this beautiful engine going by. I hear it everyday, but most of the time it kind of flies by.
Well here's a quick video of her in action, i hope you enjoy.
Thanks,
Alex

Nice that the engineer waited for you to get your camera. Where is this taken? What railroad? It must be nice having your own train set in your backyard!
That's the most realistic garden railroad I've ever seen!

Alex, you have the perfect back yard for rail fanning!!
Oh come on Alex!!....tell the truth....we know this is your new large scale backyard layout!!...
Alan
Alex, that is a great looking locomotive and thanks for posting video. Now, go get a beer and enjoy your hot tub.

What kind of locomotive is that? Looks like someone let a UP SD70M breed with a Geep.
Neat.

Great video Alex.
Matt,
It is a Brookville BL20GH. Great description though!

Nice picture, no real trains around here to take pictures of. Have to travel about 10 miles before you see any tracks.
You sure that is not your layout, lol.
Hi guys
Thanks for all the help, info and comments. I see this engine all the time, and i had no idea what model it was.
Paul, This is the Staten island railroad, which runs right behind my house. From my backyard fence to the tracks is about 50 feet or so.
Thanks,
Alex
Very cool Alex, was that trick photography in the basement? It is odd he stopped right out back, I'm sure that doesn't happen every day.

John,
Yes, it's very difficult to catch this engine at a standstill. I was working in my shop and i decided to take a lunch break , when i got to the kitchen there it was right behind my house.
Wasting no time i grabbed my Iphone and ran outside.

What makes it even more visually interesting is that it operates side-by-side with rapid-transit trains. Occasionally it can be seen coupled to rider cars that are retired MTA subway cars.

Looks more like an SD45 that was washed in hot water instead of cold water. Still cool looking engine.
Nice show Alex.
The CSX runs about 1/4 mile down the road from my house. There have been many times when I have stopped working in the yard, hopped in the car and raced down the road to the tracks and watch the train go by.
Its nice to have a 12 inch to the foot gauge train close to the house.

Nice Alex.
You decided to take a break and next thing you know - Instant Karma!
Very cool - how much freight runs on Staten Island?
Our best to you guys.
Paul & MJ
Hi Guys, thanks for all the great comments, photos , and info!!!!!!
Paul, there's really no freight that runs on this line, except for a work train. These diesels run back and fourth all day long. I hear them until 12:30 at night.
Here's a video of my MTH Staten Island switcher in action, on my real layout. lol
A big thank you goes out to Ben for giving me this engine.
