My train gets to the same spot & automatically uncouples beetween the engine & the coal car. Any ideas on why this is happening ? Thanks in advance for your replies.
More info would help diagnose this; does this happen going over a turnout? Is the coupler in question an electrocoupler? Is this a Postwar Lionel car that uncouples? Does it uncouple going over a regular Postwar UCS (uncoupling track) track? Does ther track have a dip in it where the uncoupling occurs?
Sorry for not giving enough info. Here it is. K-Line engine with a lionel coal car with electrocoupler going over Lionel tubular track, no turnout, no drawbar, no dip in track. I hope this helps.
Sorry ROZY but that is still not enough info. Is the engine a steam engine or a diesel? If a steam engine is the coal car you keep refering to the tender? If not the tender have you tried another car? Is the electro coupler on the engine (diesel), tender (steam), or on the car being pulled? If an electro croupler does the car have a slide shoe to activate the coupler? ????
If the electrocoupler is opening, it may be a noise issue. Try unplugging the electrocoupler from the TMCC package and see if it still uncouples. If no, it's noise and a 1uF non-polarized cap across it may help. If it still uncouples, it's mechanical within the coupler.
Well, probably not. Electrical noise like a poor track connection could cause them to fire. In any case, disconnecting it as a test will isolate it as being either electrical or mechanical.
