Here are some photos of mine from IRM (Illinois Railway Museum) on 09/18/2016.

This was Showcase Weekend with the Silver Pilot & NZ (Nebraska Zephyr) in operation on both days.

This was one of my semi-annual Pilgrimages to the Altar of Zephyrus. πŸ˜€

Here is Silver Pilot idling at the platform looking sleek & fast even while at rest !!!

This is a close up of the right side number board on 09/18/2016.

Road number #9911-A in art-deco Zephyr Gothic font.  Classy elegance indeed !!!

This would be a great road number for Sunset 3RD Rail’s Run 2 of their E5A Phase II models.

Few customers would even care that the prototype Silver Pilot is actually a Phase I E5A.

O-gauge Q fans will celebrate & dance in the streets upon receipt of a 3RD Rail Silver Pilot !!!

Here are close up pix of Silver Pilot's Name Boards.

You can see CB&Q Bill's reflection in the SS name Boards.

Silver PILOT would make a FANTASTIC name for one of 3RD Rail's Run 2 EMD E5A models.

Along with road number #9911-A, of course !!!

Scott Mann: if you build Silver Pilot, customers will gladly buy it !!!

This is a close up pix of the front right corner of NZ's (Nebraska Zephyr) lounge/power car Venus.

This small font BURLINGTON indicates that this is a CB&Q car.

Because the NZ is an articulated consist with the cars permanently coupled together, it is odd to have to state BURLINGTON on the car ends.

Other Zephyr trains that were jointly operated with other RRs had small RR initials at the upper end corners to indicate ownership.

On the California Zephyr, the RR owner marks were CB&Q, D&RGW, and WP (and PRR on the Pennsy’s one CZ sleeper Silver Rapids).

On the Great Northern's Empire Builder & Western Star trains, the RR owner marks were GN and CB&Q.

On the Northern Pacific's North Coast Limited & Main Streeter trains, the RR reporting marks were NP and CB&Q.

Here is a 1930s Lincoln Zephyr parked on the platform alongside Nebraska Zephyr's Observation car Juno.

Two gorgeous Zephyrs !!!

This scene reminds me of a photo by Santiago of his O-scale Packard car along side his 3RD Rail E5A model.

Life & art often imitate each other !!!

Bill,

Great photos. I wish I knew they were going to run it as I would have watched in on their web cameras. I did visit the Museum often when I lived in Berwyn. Although I do miss some of the mid west, I don't miss shoveling snow, dealing with sleet and cold! Send some of your rain to California.

If you watch the web cams, while not always, but Wednesdays from about 5 pm to 8 pm, and Saturday between 10 and 6 pm are shop times for the Diesel Department. If there are any switch moves, those are the times to watch. Any other days and times would just depend if qualified people are available. Of course during regular operating hours at the museum anything goes.

Actually, go to the time lapse video for barn 2 on 3/2/22 after about 5 pm. There was a lot of shuffling things around that evening. I think that’s the most recent big night.
