Like Allan, we're all a bit tired of this topic. The outdated rules are SO archaic, they and the folks who defend them are downright laughable.
And by the way... Marty is correct about the jokers who banned someone for posting excellent pictures of the layout in the Black Hall a few years ago. And if I recall correctly, OGR folks weren't even allowed to capture pictures of MTH's wonderful display layout that year (its first I believe) in the Orange Hall -- even off hours -- to publish photos and promote the hobby! Are you kidding me??? WTF!!! I still remember one of the ED clowns had the audacity to post comments on this forum about the egregious nature of taking photos in the Black Hall, as if someone had committed high treason for gosh sakes.
Those two points alone should tell us something about the stubborn-natured, head-in-the-sand, dark ages attitude that exists at those levels of ED TCA management.
Technology isn't always great. But in this case, it has FAR outpaced the initial concerns that put these rules in place some 60+ years ago. For crying out loud... If someone wanted to secretly communicate with partners in other halls, they don't even need to hold their smart phone up to their ear anymore. A small Blue Tooth earpiece along with the phone tucked safely away in in their pocket... and nobody would be any the wiser. So let's not kid ourselves.
By and large, we all know it for what it is... so we put up with the nonsense rules... because in the big picture, we all go there to enjoy the show the best way WE can -- knowing very well that some things in life you just can't see eye to eye on. And we let it go at that.
