Hi everyone!

Today, we take you north to Minersville, Pennsylvania to witness the only operating anthracite burning steam locomotive: CNJ #113. CNJ #113 has been pulling passenger trains along the Reading & Northern for the past few years now mostly during the Christmas season and Easter weekends. Thanks to the donation of a fan of the #113, she is now wearing the authentic headlight of her sister #115.

In this video we will see cab shots, and trackside scenes as CNJ #113, disguised now as CNJ #115, stomps along the Reading & Northern's tracks between Schuylkill Haven and Minersville, Pennsylvania. The #113 will continue wearing the #115's numbers and headlight through the rest of the year.

I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching! Stay tuned for more content through the year.

Wow. It must be a very successful operation with the need to run multiple sections.  I wonder what locomotive(s) they used on the following sections.

The #113 and the two Geeps on the rear were used on all trips from Minersville to Schuylkill Haven and back.

OK, by your response, you did not understand my question.  CNJ 115 is shown operating with green class lights indicating a second section is following.  I was curious what locomotive(s) were on the following second section.

Mike,

ECD15 is being facetious.  He has spotted the two GREEN class lights.  Colors of class lights and flags have the following indications: Green - one or more sections following; White - Extra Train; Red - Stop.

Well over the internet one cannot necessarily tell when someone is being facetious, thus why I answered the question literally.

Technically she needs white class lights, but I'm not one for being picky. She's a heck of a locomotive to see run and one of the best restoration stories on the East Coast.

Fortunately, timetable rules no longer stipulate the use of marker lights, so we're free to run whatever color we choose.  I switched the markers to green for our Christmas trips and decided to leave them green when I hung them on the locomotive for one reason only:  I like the way they look.   Only the rivet counters are annoyed, which I consider a bonus.

Annoyed? Hardly.  More disappointed that a professional railroad operation would operate in such a toy like manner.  Oh well, to each their own.

How many tickets did you buy for our train? None of our riders complained.

Maybe they simply didn't know any better.

Mislead the public?    I guess 4449 has only ever pulled a timetable train X4449 in excursion service?

Not sure what THAT statement is supposed to mean, nor what it has to do with the green class light issue. For what it's worth, when we carry "X4449" in the train number indicator boxes, we DO also show white class lights. When we did the New Orleans Worlds Fair Daylight trip, in 1984, we carried the prototypically correct passenger train number in the indicator boards, for that specific division/district, and had no class lights illuminated. All done with the permission of the SP Operating Dept. managers.
