Certified Train/Technician Course

I don't know if that well ever happen or not. I suggest you call MTH and Lionel and ask them about the possibility of you attending their repair seminars.

Lionel has not had their "Training/certification Course" in a number of years. However, in order to attend either companies' course, I believe one must be sponsored by a Hobby Shop/Dealer. 

Correct, I'm patiently waiting (or is that impatiently) for the Lionel classes to be offered again.  I've been to the MTH class.

The classes are free as a rule, but they expect you to be associated with a shop where you will be a value added asset and provide service for their products.  That's the reason for offering the classes.  The MTH class was free, but if you wanted the test sets, you had to buy those.

I would love for MTH & Lionel to offer classes to us but if you are not employed by a brick & Morter shop the answer is NO.

Don't give up your dreams. Like I said, call MTH and Lionel and ask them what are the requirements to be a service center. If as stated you have to be sponsored by a shop, then ask your local dealer or dealers if they will sponsor you.
