These cars have interiors but are not illuminated. I've been given the task of removing the dark green tinted windows and replacing them with clear ones so that the interior can be viewed, they will be a youngsters Christmas gift. Looking for ideas on how to safely remove the dark windows and what to replace them with. Thanks!

Anyone? The parents called me today asking about progress on this, they can't understand who would put an interior in a car without illumination and add dark green windows.
I used glass slides on the inside of older K-Line Heavyweight passenger cars, held in place with clear RTV, only because that is what I had on hand. Wouldn't use real glass for something that would be left with a kid.
I'd just use clear plastic, you can buy it or salvage it from product packaging. I've replaced tons of windows with clear plastic. I recently did a set of Lionel Santa Fe passenger cars that had the clouded windows, and a couple had green tint for some reason. I replaced them all with matching clear windows.
FWIW, I did that to a couple of those disconnect cars for the same reason. I am still trying to figure how to get power to them to light them.
Thanks guys, that's what I'll attempt then.
John, I've been pondering the same very same thing! Let us know if you come upon a easy workable solution. Not sure of all 5 together or individually work best. (I'm clearly still at the reglazing stage of the project ;-)
I looked again, but it appears to be a sufficient PITA that I don't think I'll bother.
