I'm taking the rest of the year off and finally getting some quality time in my trainroom.   Today I completed something i had wanted to do for some time.  A video at the end.

My short-wheelbase city buses now take this turn around in strike, not slowly noticeably.  Longer-wheelbase "country" buses handle it well, too, so now they can run through downtown.  And then there are the tractor trailers.

As usual, that's creative.  I am curious about your superstreets.  In some places they appear to be two way streets with cars parked on each side.  What is the total width of those streets including parking?  In my new layout, I'd like to leave enough space for streets to do that, just in case I ever decide to tackle it.  Have a long way to go before that happens.

It was well worth the effort. Looks to me like a great improvement.

Your correct the Hotel belongs down town and makes a very nice point of interest.

The continuation of the left hand street for me looks more realistic to me.

And gives the diorama more depth.

I enjoy your scenery posts, we can learn a lot form your creativity.

The total street width is about 8.5 inches: two 'Streets track lanes of 2 3/8 inch each, with a half inch spacer between them to give a more realistic spacing, and a 1/3/4 inch wide parking lanes of both sides.  Add in sidewalks on both sides, too, and you get around 11 inches or more -- a lot of space but I like the look.

It's actually noisier on O-27 but all of that is under a mostly enclosed underneath so sound can't escape and you don't hear it as much.

brilliant changes. I love that you are not afraid to make some major modifications in your layout to make, what I think are, significant improvements. I agree that the new woodland scenics building is a terrific structure and belongs downtown, exactly where you have it. the whole downtown looks great, the cars along the sidewalks, the details in town and the different building angles, all of which contribute to a realistic scene. Having never worked with them, I am curious if you have any speed control over the superstreet vehicles.

Nice, a contrary view.  I appreciate that perspective; for everything one gains, one gives up something.  But the tunnel portal sharing a train and road may be weird, yes but that is the way it is in order to get what I want.  It works. That is what is important to me.

And the Ford dealership?  No way I'm losing that.  I love it.  Really a nice interior in their.  I plan to add LED lights this weekend.  the hotel is the first lighted building on my layout and I will be adding lights a building or two at a time this weekend.  The dealership will look even better then.

And the curbs?  All the same except for the re-routing to the right.

Sounds like finish one project and find more work needs to be done on the layout.

Think this is true for many of us. Probably a good thing. That's why many a model layout is never finished.
