I am a newcomer to 0 gauge (and OGR) and was brought to the hobby by the purchase of a Marx Steamliner train set with a Marx 999 with the embossed pilot and a pre-war motor. I have been doing some light custom work on some the metal rolling stock that I have posted in the Tinplate Trains Forum which was a scrap load for my NKP gondola and a rebuild/repaint of a rusty NIGANT tank car into a Sinclair tank car.

I have since purchased some junk Marx stuff which included a a newer Marx plastic B&O boxcar. The boxcar came with the stamped steel "G" type trucks and plastic knuckle couplers...

The rest of the cars in this train set have the "B" style trucks which I believe are what is called 3/16th scale. I don't know if they are proper scale or not but I think they look so much more proportional than the "G" style trucks plus I need to change out the couplers to the tilt style that the rest of the cars have. So to use this boxcar on my train, I drilled out the rivets, removed the "G" trucks and swapped them for the "B"s....

Looks much better and now it's compatible with the rest of my rolling stock. Call me crazy but, I like the Marx tilt couplers!

I have been using Marx tilting couplers since childhood and my Marx 999 set.  Have you installed the Marx uncoupler track section to make them work?  They are a little tricky.

I have cut the tap off the bottom of most of my tilting couplers as they short out on some of the Lionel operating track sections and most of my trains and operating cars are Lionel, Kline, Williams, etc.  I have several cars and engines and coal tenders with both Lionel and Marx couplers so I can run both makes of cars on the same train.

Here is a picture of a little un-numbered Marx 0-4-0 switcher that I recently added a Lionel coupler to the front.  The engine has the same motor as the Marx 999.
