Hi Folks,

I don't recall seeing an announcement anywhere on the forum, so I thought I would post this, as abbreviated from an online obituary (http://www.legacy.com/obituari...y.aspx?pid=176089288):

"Charles Bryant Bussinger, 79, of Fort Washington, PA, died on October 8, 2015 at Abington Hospice, Warminster. Charles was born in Philadelphia on July 10, 1936 to the late John and Claire (Mlynczak) Bussinger. Charles, (Charlie or Mr. B), was the owner of Bussinger Trains in Ambler for over 20 years."

I had only recently "discovered" this store and didn't know Mr. Bussinger personally, but it's always sad when someone in the community passes on. I stopped by the shop last night and was told plans are to keep the store open and in the family. As previous posts have described, they sell mostly MTH and are located in the old Ambler train station. It's a quaint location that is packed to the gills with inventory and even features a small, multi-track demo layout complete with a "Main Street." Believe me when I tell you, if you can get an operating o gauge layout in there, you can pretty much do it anywhere!

With condolences to his friends and family,

Jim

Condolences to the family.  I had not heard about this, so thanks for posting this information here.

I want to say it was earlier this year that I last visited Bussinger Trains in Ambler, and Charles was there at the time.  Chatted with him many times whenever I visited.  Always pleasant and would order something if he didn't have something on hand -- especially MTH.

Small shop, but MUCH of the store's inventory (mostly MTH as I recall) was stored in the adjacent depot building.  For years, the shop never had an internet presence, and relied on the MTH Product Finder for leads.  But some point in 2013, a website was developed.  As recently as Nov 2, 2015 some of the website inventory has been updated.  So someone is definitely "minding the business" right now.

Very sad to hear of Charles' passing.

David
