Just got an email about it. They look great.
Has anybody met this man or know anything about him?
Thanks,
Ed
They look pretty nice, I would love to know more about him.
I plan to have samples for the Cherry Valley and Strasburg show. Nice thing about Brad is that he will make whatever configuration you want. Currently awaiting a good sized order.
Turnouts are DCC friendly, points have fishplates, frog has a drop, head tie both sides. tt
They look to be made using the Fast Tracks methods/tools with wood ties added. Very nicely done. Certainly can add the extra details if you want for switches in the foreground.
Tom, these switches look very nice. Any chance that this fella Brad is taking over the Old Pullman Line or is he starting out a brand new business?
FYI the ties look to be machined or laser cut, etc... from a sheet of some wood for each configuration. Check out the underside in the photos near the bottom of the page
This is something he has been doing on his own.
tt,
Are the points hinged or continuous? Is the top of the rail the same height as the Atlas flex track? See you on 3/2.
Thanks,
Ed
Thanks for the info Tom. I wish him good luck. After closer inspection I agree with Mike. They look like they are made with Fast Tracks jigs but Fast Tracks do not have jigs for a 3 way or a curved switch in O scale. I'm seriously interested in trying one out. I will try to purchase one in a month or too.
The photos look good and the pricing is reasonable. I feel myself being pushed closer to the edge.

I enlarged the photo and it appears to me that the points are separate.

They look seperate to me also.
ChipR and Chris,
Young eyes beat older eyes every time. Thanks for the careful observation. One more observation and question: Years ago, before I started to make my own switches, I inspected a prototype switch and noticed a kink in the curved stock rail about 15 inches before the straight point. Did you notice this kink in these switches?
Thanks,
Ed
My very old eyes need the picture enlarged quite a bit. Sorry, I don't see a kink.
ChipR
I wonder if we can add our own details like tie plates or rail braces. To my eyes, it looks like the points are separate. Also, on the website it says that these switches are code 148, although in the email that I got it said that Brad can do Number 4,5,and 6 switches in code 125.

Hi Ed I don't see a kink at all.
Thanks for checking.

Mike,
I have one of the Fast Track jigs and in their videos they show that you can build the switch either way with solid or hinged switch points.
I contacted them last year when I got my jig about Quick Sticks and they said at that time that they no plans to offer them in O scale. It's a shame because that would really cut down the time to build a switch.
Custom fixtures? Yes you're right, it definitely could be that. Probably is. Not that that diminishes it in any way.
Points are set into rail joiners. The laser cut base is sealed. Non ROW points would have the "kink".
Will have #6's at CV & Strasburg. tt
