I've spent a lot of time on Shorpy over the past few years. I love the "enlargement" option...especially for the older fine-grain B&W photos.

I spend a lot of time there too. Outstanding pictures and great history lessons if you read the captions and comments. I currently have 9,416 large format pictures from the site downloaded onto my laptop and running randomly in the background as a slideshow. I download about 10-12 pictures per week. Never get tired of them .

Good evening, to me these photo shows the real grit of everyday railroading.
I think a lot of us look at the glamour side of the railroads whether its the by gone days of steam or the modern day class one railroads,but forget the men and women behind the scenes that a make it happen day in and day out.
To me, that's what these pictures shows us.
Great shots. Really puts you in the scene. Color makes a big difference here.
