You guys must have some deep pockets, congratulations! The Niagara is an amazing engine. I’m sure you all will have lots of fun with it! 🚂🔥🔥

Lots of overtime. And empty pockets now LOL.

Believe it or not kids dreaming over the Lionel catalogue is not just from the past. Mason was pouring over it when it was released back in the spring.

He then says one day that he has seen what he would like from Santa. Pointing at the Niagara.

The good thing about him is he doesn’t tend to change his mind.  He’s also ridden behind a live steam model Niagara. So I guess the seed was sown.

Extreme sticker shock on my part. (Best deal though from Charlie at Nassau) Let’s just say it wasn’t easy but I figure it’s the same as someone buying a $75 scale Hudson for a 10 year old back in the day. And at least I had most of the year to save up.

Mason has always looked after his toys so I guess it’s all down to the child. It really is a tricky question because the kids love the hi tech stuff and unfortunately the cutting edge stuff that really catches their attention is in the high end equipment.

You can tell we hit a home run because the Niagara had to be placed next to his bed last night. This is the honoured position reserved for favourite items.

Whatever you spent it was worth it!  The look on Mason's face and the joy you brought him is priceless.

I guess I was both nice and naughty over the Christmas season. On the nice list, in addition to an early gift from Black Friday (Lionel 6-84328 Polar Express), my wife made me a custom 2019 calendar with her favorite railroad photographs I took this year. I also got 3 new Menards cars.

On the naughty list, my new CP Holiday Train Dash-8 didn't make it a foot without crapping out. I didn't see any signs of shorting out, but resetting hasn't done anything either. Seems to be a lot of issues with this whole series. I haven't picked up my stage car yet. Fingers crossed.....

Being unemployed our Christmas was rather small.  But my wife did get me my yearly train item.  Every Christmas since we've been married she has gotten me one train car without me knowing what it is.  She always worries I won't like it, but I keep reminding her that as long as it's O gauge I'll love it.  Going forward it's going to be harder now that our LHS is closed, but I'll make sure to point her to one of the online stores.

Like always, my awesome wife had some train items mixed in under the tree for me.  The annual Lionel Christmas car. The one Polar Express car that I needed to complete my set.  A couple of train books I wanted. A new multimeter,  and the annual train calendar.   And one non train item I had to add in the picture. I've always wanted a Tonka grader since I was a kid and never got one. Had almost every other Tonka truck,20181226_171503 but somehow this one  slipped by.   So even though I'm 55, my beautiful wife made sure I got one this Christmas!

Purchased a Lionel Polar Express Passenger set to give away and 3 scale items for us. The Polar Express not only was a hit, it runs! The three scale items all have to be returned, one has a broken roof, one has a broken truck, and the diesel is dead out of the styrofoam with a bunch of loose screws in the box for even more excitement... Well, at least the charge card bill will be much less with 3 items being returned. Hope everyone else enjoyed their new treasures!

Santa (my wife) brought the blue-tooth polar express and a MTH led flat car with the 2 Christmas trees and box on it. She and my family also loaded up on some Dpt 56 Christmas vacation stuff as well. To top it all off she got me something i have been wanting for a long time. A little off topic (M1 garand) but she is awesome.

An M1 garand.  She is awesome!

06. Built in 53 we think.  Happy man here for sure.  If it wasnt for her I wouldnt have my bonus room being finished.  Last year she bought me a 1911 colt commander. I have a wife that puts up with my crazy train and gun addiction.

Bought myself a MTH PRR H-10-44. Love the lines of these FM's

A great-looking model!  I've always thought those F-M switchers looked as though they should have a tender behind them.

MNCW: That's a very nice prewar 0-6-0 switcher.  Ought to be a satisfying project.

Exactly- looks like steam engine with the long roof over the cab.
