My Christmas gift to myself is hopefully on the water soon.A Grand Trunk & Western F3 by Atlas.

Lots of overtime. And empty pockets now LOL.
Believe it or not kids dreaming over the Lionel catalogue is not just from the past. Mason was pouring over it when it was released back in the spring.
He then says one day that he has seen what he would like from Santa. Pointing at the Niagara.
The good thing about him is he doesn’t tend to change his mind. He’s also ridden behind a live steam model Niagara. So I guess the seed was sown.
Extreme sticker shock on my part. (Best deal though from Charlie at Nassau) Let’s just say it wasn’t easy but I figure it’s the same as someone buying a $75 scale Hudson for a 10 year old back in the day. And at least I had most of the year to save up.
Mason has always looked after his toys so I guess it’s all down to the child. It really is a tricky question because the kids love the hi tech stuff and unfortunately the cutting edge stuff that really catches their attention is in the high end equipment.
You can tell we hit a home run because the Niagara had to be placed next to his bed last night. This is the honoured position reserved for favourite items.
The smile on young Mason's face is priceless Nick!! You & Santa did well!!

Whatever you spent it was worth it! The look on Mason's face and the joy you brought him is priceless.
To help keep all my steamers running in the new year, Santa left me a box of coal.
I guess I was both nice and naughty over the Christmas season. On the nice list, in addition to an early gift from Black Friday (Lionel 6-84328 Polar Express), my wife made me a custom 2019 calendar with her favorite railroad photographs I took this year. I also got 3 new Menards cars.
On the naughty list, my new CP Holiday Train Dash-8 didn't make it a foot without crapping out. I didn't see any signs of shorting out, but resetting hasn't done anything either. Seems to be a lot of issues with this whole series. I haven't picked up my stage car yet. Fingers crossed.....

I received a sealed MPC Lionel #1388 Golden State Arrow Set, and a Postwar # 60 Trolley with original box, black lettering and the original motorman silhouettes.
My Christmas present was my grandson proudly telling me there was no train around the tree at his house so he retrieved from the closet the FARR 3 set I had given to his mother a decade ago and set it up all by himself!
Santa was kind to me, brought me a new switcher!
Being unemployed our Christmas was rather small. But my wife did get me my yearly train item. Every Christmas since we've been married she has gotten me one train car without me knowing what it is. She always worries I won't like it, but I keep reminding her that as long as it's O gauge I'll love it. Going forward it's going to be harder now that our LHS is closed, but I'll make sure to point her to one of the online stores.

This year already brought me the Conrail F7 ABBA and the Vision Line Niagara.....so, I had received more than enough train presents this year.....I did get...
In addition, sometime early in 2019, 2 more MTH Christmas cars should arrive....

My wife and son gave me two Lionel scale cylindrical hoppers. Evidently she noticed me eyeing them up at a train shop we visited back in November and then later ordered them for me for Christmas. She’s always very perceptive like that...which tends to work out well for me!

Looks great Rich.
Tom- that steamer looks vaguely familiar 🤣. Worst kept secret for anyone who frequents SWSAT each week.
Enjoy
Thanks for everyone's comments.
I spent the afternoon getting the prewar switcher running.

Like always, my awesome wife had some train items mixed in under the tree for me. The annual Lionel Christmas car. The one Polar Express car that I needed to complete my set. A couple of train books I wanted. A new multimeter, and the annual train calendar. And one non train item I had to add in the picture. I've always wanted a Tonka grader since I was a kid and never got one. Had almost every other Tonka truck, but somehow this one slipped by. So even though I'm 55, my beautiful wife made sure I got one this Christmas!

Oliver, love the Barbie in the second car. Fun little engine.

Santa (my wife) brought the blue-tooth polar express and a MTH led flat car with the 2 Christmas trees and box on it. She and my family also loaded up on some Dpt 56 Christmas vacation stuff as well. To top it all off she got me something i have been wanting for a long time. A little off topic (M1 garand) but she is awesome.

Dennis, Thanks but I never received your mail, Merry Christmas too.
Very best, Daniel
Purchased a Lionel Polar Express Passenger set to give away and 3 scale items for us. The Polar Express not only was a hit, it runs! The three scale items all have to be returned, one has a broken roof, one has a broken truck, and the diesel is dead out of the styrofoam with a bunch of loose screws in the box for even more excitement... Well, at least the charge card bill will be much less with 3 items being returned. Hope everyone else enjoyed their new treasures!

06. Built in 53 we think. Happy man here for sure. If it wasnt for her I wouldnt have my bonus room being finished. Last year she bought me a 1911 colt commander. I have a wife that puts up with my crazy train and gun addiction.
I may get my OGR membership card pulled but... The option was new tires on the Corvette or a new engine. I went with the tires.
I did sneak in a set of Santa Fe F3's around Thanksgiving, so they feel new!!
Got this from a friend who joined me on trips to Fostoria Ohio and the Illinois Railway Museum. He said he appreciated the road trips! Like I wasn't going to go????

Happy Holidays everyone! Since I'm a single Dad only Santa brings me things . Found the Chicago Yellowbook 4-Car Subway set (PS2) for a good deal, and just got a notice that my MTH Santa Fe Alco PAs shipped so I should have those in a few days.
