I know not directly associated with trains but I will tie it in before the end of the post. This year started with our family losing our pet dog Aires after 15 years (the kicker is he died the same day as my Dad 4 years ago). I big blow and it took alot out of us. The rest of the year had its up and downs ( mostly down) very difficult with losing several family friends and another with breast cancer. Well December 13th I had a heart attack at 1 week past my 56 birthday. I gotta tell ya for a little bit I thought I wasnt gonna make it and leave 2 daughters. With some very quick thinking Doctors and their teams it was discovered the heart attack was due to a blockage of the major artery to the heart. By the time I arrived at the hospital there was a team of 10 or 12 doctors and nurses waiting; time was of the essence. They inserted a stent immediately to open the blockage before my heart sustained to much damage. Im out of the hospital and home, looking like out of the woods with 4 days til Christmas. It opened my eyes to alot of stuff and changed my opinion on alot more. So take a minute this holiday to hug someone, call someone. You never know.

Now to tie it all to trains. Although over the years Ive bought many different kinds of Christmas cars. Some smoking tank cars, made some custom cars, Rudolph cars, I also have every single Christmas Car MTH ever put out in railking. Some years they never came off the display shelf. This year they are all out. I have double headed MTH K-4 pulling the front end, 47 various and assorted Christmas cars, a MTH decapod helping push, and a Christmas caboose at the tail with Santa waving to all from the rear. It feels real good.  Run your trains this holiday, enjoy them. But above all of that call or hug someone. Thats what its all about.

Merry Christmas and happy holiday to everyone....... Bob Nileski

Bob:

I am glad things are going OK for you now.  We never know when our time will come so I have always felt we should always try to part with our loved ones and friends on a positive note.  I am glad you feel well enough to run your trains.  For me, watching trains run even on the smallest layout is a great stress reliever.

Remember:

"Yesterday is history,

tomorrow is a mystery,

today is a gift,

Thats why they call it the present!"

Go run some trains, enjoy your family and have a very Merry Christmas and may 2016 bring you more joy.

Bob Nileski,

Merry Christmas to you and your family sir, had my Agent Orange Widow maker at age 60, as with you it opened my eyes to a lot things I took for granted.  I was very very lucky and I have a big stent in the major artery of my heart also.  It takes about 8 months to really start to get back to complete normal, do as instructed and no lifting over 50 Lbs ever again.  Take your meds correctly and watch your blood pressure.  God gave you and me both some time to spend with our families, make the most of it.  Enjoy our hobby and pass it on, God has already taken a liken to ya!

Merry Christmas!

Bob,

You'll physically heal quickly. The toughest part is answering the question "Why the second chance?" (same story in 2010)

I thought I lived and cherished loved ones as in Don's poetic wisdom, but you find that you've been a little short after a peek at the Pearly Gates.

The year ended with a blessing for you and you've already begun your next journey.

Merry Christmas!

I haven't had a heart attack yet, but in 2011 I had a serious disagreement with my gallbladder that has made me look at life differently ever since. I'll be 69 in a few months and I look at every day as a blessing. Some days it's harder to do so, but I always end the night with a little prayer and sleep well. No, the prayer isn't for my well-being, it's for the well-being of those I love. I wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring joy to your lives and those of your loved ones.
