That was you ! ( I'm wearing the Santa hat )

I saw you filming the layout but wasn't sure.

Did you take a close look at the train on the outside track ?

It's the 463W set from 1945.  67 years old and still runs

like a top....

Thanks for the video...

P.S.

A lady came up to me and said her daughter wanted to know if I

was Santa. I said " Tell her yes and she's getting a pony "

You promised the little girl a pony and not a toy train, boy you blew it Santa.   Just kidding.

LOL  you are right. Should have been a train set, Or a subscription to OGR .

The layout is 8 X 24. The building is not much bigger than that. It's an old

tin smith's shop with wooden floors and field stone walls.

We stay pretty busy all night with non train type people, but all really like

the setup. Let the kids blow the whistle a few times and they are hooked...

Yes!, I noticed the set right away.  I'm really into Lionel Postwar and it was great to see the old set still running.  I believe that was the first trainset offered by Lionel after WW2 ended.  I also noticed the talking Noma train station.  This is the first time I've seen both on a layout.  It was great seeing the old stuff along with the newer items.  Also running on the layout when I saw it was the Polar Express and Christms Story train.  The operating snow globe car was a clever holiday addition.

I noticed a young lady in her 80's staring at the 224 engine.  I went over to her

and told her a little of the history about it. She told me she always wanted a train

when she was little but "She was a girl " and could not have one. She started running

her hand over the top of the engine. I asked her if she would like to see it run and she

said yes.

I grabbed the engine and we pushed our way through the crowd to get to the layout.

I put the engine in front of the 10 freight cars I had running. ( I originally

had a double header of 0-8-0's pulling it ), Powered up the engine and it sat there.

I gave it a little more power, the wheels spun and off it went.

The lady smiled and started applauding. She stood there for another 15 minutes

before she left....

sometimes this can be more than just a hobby...
