A clip of 6 year old me and my 3 year old sister in 8mm.

I told her to keep her hands off the track to no avail, she learned.  Still have the set, not the layout.  The casters allowed the layout to slide under my parents bed. We only had a 4 room apartment so space was at a premium.

Sorry for the poor quality as it is a cell phone video taken off a movie screen.

God, how I wish I had movie film of of our home train layouts from the early to late 1950s.  Unfortunately, we never even took still photos of our layouts at Christmas time.  All of my memories are stored in my head and while they are crystal clear movie film would be a great trip back in time.  Joe, you are a very fortunate fellow to possess such a talisman from the past.

This is Christmas 1956 or 1957 (there's some uncertainty about it), in our central Pennsylvania apartment.  I'm trying to teach my sister how to operate the 1033 transformer that powered our Christmas layout, but she seems more interested in the tree.

There's not much of the layout visible, but you can see the 362 Barrel Loader, a Marx Water Tower and some of the 027 freight cars that my 2026 hauled.  In the background you can see Dad's ashtray (he quit smoking for good later that year) and the Cragstan Cunningham sports coupe that Santa had just brought me.  I still have every bit of the train equipment, but alas, the Cunningham vanished long, long ago:
