How has business been at your local Train Shop this year? How is their Christmas season going?

My guess is with inflation sales will be average or down. But you never know.
Admittedly I've been guilty of throwing inflation out the window when it comes to buying trains. 😁
When we were in business, we found that most people would fine money to buy trains.
I agree Jim. It’s something about Christmas and trains. I can’t go into a shop and come out empty handed. Too many wonderful memories.
@Jim Sutter, great Question, here’s my theory concerning Christmas Train Sales, First, for those dealers that have Built To Order trains ordered, it depends on there coming in before Christmas, and that depends on how much an individual orders, I have $2500 on back order, Second, For those dealers that do not advertise, nor carry a large inventory, it could be questionable, Third, For those aggressive dealers, via heavy advertising, offering super specials, via email, train magazine adds, it’ll be Fantastic. There’s a lot of folks out there with money wanting new trains. Merry Christmas.
I’m headed to the Christmas Train Show in Sioux Falls Sat - Nov 19th, I’ll let you know. (We have very few LHS’s in SD.). It won’t be “York of the West” but it was fun & well-attended last year.
We do not have any O or S gauge train stores in this neck of the woods(MAINE) so I depend on Charles Ro and other online dealers to take my money.
The lack of new & unique offerings has saved me a lot of money and headaches with defective items.

@gunny, good news, take a look on the OGR For Sale listings, there’s a beautiful American Flyer set, old but looking new, for sale…. Check it out, and Happy Thanksgiving all. Happy Railroading Everyone
There’s another thread about a hobby shop “Hobby Express “ in Cranberry Pennsylvania, (a store I visited in April) a beautifully decorated, well stocked hobby store that is ready for business, full of beautiful trains of all gauges, and in my thinking, they will do fantastic. I think attitude has much to do with sales, if you build it, they will come. Legacy Station near Atlanta also has a beautiful store, full of beautiful trains. So my hunch, this is going to be a great selling season, think Optimistic. Happy Railroading Everyone
