I have used this combo before; the ZW-C with two Powerhouse bricks and transformer posts A and U wired to the TIU fixed voltage input. This time however it's with a PS3 engine I have not run through this before, the GE Evo with charging lights. I have run this engine with a newer TIU and it functioned fine but unfortunately I don't have that one available.

Things started badly when I set up an isolated section of Fastrack to add the engine to the remote. I kept getting the "Check Track" message and ultimately the engine was added as #18 but without any of the softkey options. Tried cleaning up the track and checking all the connections, deleting and trying to re-add the engine. At various times it came up again as #18 but now neither smoke nor charging lights function. I have tried feature and factory resets of the engine to restore these functions but to no avail.

I haven't tried just running the engine in conventional mode yet or a TIU or remote reset.

I guess my queries are (1) whether there is something wrong in using the ZW-C in the way I have although it is listed as a DCS-compatible transformer or some other issue with this set up and (2) how do I restore/access the smoke and light functions?

Any help would be appreciated as this was supposed to be today's under the Christmas Tree display!

Does any other engine work with this TIU?  First test engine conventionally with ZW-C.  Should run fine.  At that point, you need to test TIU with another engine or PS-3 with another TIU.

If no access to another TIU or another engine, keep FIX 1  powered, but also power Fix 2 and try that output.

The TIU and Remote reset won't hurt if there limited to this small set up.  G

Thanks much GGG. Yes, I have found that the engine runs in conventional although I had to do a manual reset (horn + 5 x bell) to get the charging lights to function.

I have one other PS3 engine that I can try with this TIU and remote but also a couple of PS2s although these are already in the remote. I might try one of them just to see if can be found by the system, which I suppose might diagnose whether there's an issue with the TIU.

I wondered whether wiring the Powerhouse bricks through the ZW-C controller might have interfered with the TIU although I have done it before. I don't have the connectors to wire one brick direct to the TIU; I understand that is an option although I have never tried it.

Many thanks again.
