Here's my spread for 2022. Aside from a couple DIY project cars, the lighted Fasttrack is the only new addition (and man do I love it!). Other than that, I just try to change up the consists here and there to get some different trains out of their boxes each year…
Nice videos and pictures. It has taken me more time to get the Christmas changeover and even house decorating done while dealing with a sick pup. I'll try to post something this week. I exchange all the trains for Christmas themed and swap out some buildings and some scenery for Christmas themed as well. It's hard to get it all done and make sure she is ok.
Great looking Christmas Trains everyone!
Well, Christmas this year is going rather slow. Progress was already diminished due to wife's medical condition when she went and fell and broke her ankle so now things are pretty much at a standstill. She did get a giant plastic "boot" that looks like what the "Star Wars" storm troopers wear for Christmas however ! However I have loved seeing all the wonderful Christmas outfits and layouts that you all have posted, It has really made my Christmas season more happy So I guess I will just post a few from the past...sorry I couldn't get new ones.
Here is my first Christmas layout (really done by Dad and Grandad) in a house where I was born (demolished by the construction of the N.J. Turnpike about 1950) its from 1947 (I am from 44 )
Here is out Christmas train from last year, the Tree decorations were all made by my wife, they are sea shells from the beach area where we have vacationed, Tybee Island Georgia.
Here is my Christmas train, pulled by "old faithful" the Marx 400 plastic locomotive. This gal was a life saver after my far more expensive Lionel loco refused to run after being put on the rails on Christmas eve...disaster averted!
Here is " that fellow from the North Pole" riding the caboose through the Christmas village
Here is a short video of the train in operation.
Best wishes of the Holiday Season to everyone. Thanks to all of your on the forum for all the joy you bring to us with your pictures, stories, videos, and reply's Merry Christmas
Don

Here is a “Slo-mo” of something I already posted this season. This seems like a good way to see every car in the wheel report.
Q: why the Crazy Crystals boxcar?
A: a Texas product near and dear to my heart…my sainted great grandmother took this product mixed in rainwater every day. My sisters and I still have the little green boxes in which the powder was sold. We were amused as how the product has made a recent comeback in bottled form.

Christmas 2022 layout.
MTH NATIVITY TRAIN / LIONEL POLAR EXPRESS / LIONEL ELVES HAND CAR / All Judy's yarn buildings .
New this year .........double amount of caribu , Lemax ice skating feature ( I took the liberty to make the sax and horn players become the Blues Brothers ) ,white fence on the upper level , more elves and more snow covered trees. I think we have no more room for additions for the 2023 layout.

54 OTL. Up from 24 since last year.
I can't slow Judy down.......she said the comment from the engineer in the PE movie was " there must be a hundred thousand maybe a million " when the caribu held up the train.

Our Christmas layout isn't very much. Having cats, we are limited as to what things we can put on the layout. You never know when a Catzilla is going to stomp through the layout.
I bought the Lionel Christmas Light Express this year. Between the LED's on the train and the sections of light-up Fastrack, it is certainly fun to watch.

Hi everyone- I've been in the hobby now 50 years (December 1972- December 2022). What a fun ride! Christmas was big deal in 1950 ( I was 5) and my brother Norm was almost 4. My Dad didn't have much after WWII- nobody did- but loved trains. Watched them in Berkeley and Oakland California - there were many- even the big cab forwards going around the East Bay. What a buzz for young boys who would grow into men but still stay little boys inside. Being an adult is tiresome at times....
We started with Marx windups with flint sparkler coming out of the smokestack. WOW! especially in the dark. Money was tight and Lionel was the dream for all of us but "big bucks". We eventually had a large suitcase full -adding something each year -only opened for Christmas Tree running and then carefully put away after New Years day despite all of our pleading with Mom. The mess was all over the living room- train tracks, lionel trains, lincoln logs, toy building blocks for tunnels, for building our growing empire , then even a tin sheet metal (Probably Marx) 2 story gas station with hand crank elevator to the top and side down ramp on the side for the cars to go down...
When my first 2 boys arrived in 1969 and 1970 I wanted to do the same.. so 1972 became the year of our first "floor" layout and has continued ever since. So a few favorite pics of how it all began and some going forward. Christmas for us has always been busy with guests, visitors, relatives and now grandchildren.
The tree is 12' tall with a beautiful Angel looking down with arms outstretched. . Takes 4 hours to set up-1,000 lights, heirloom ornaments, lighted village below, and the scenery. I ask the guys who come with their wives (the girls talk & the guys play trains) to find certain vintage vehicles i.e 1948 Studebaker, Edsel, the hard ones...fun game!
Postwar operation was near the transformer on the floor for control- now you can do everything remotely anywhere in the room. So no more kneeling on 77 yr old knees. The women are politely timid & some are brave about asking to run them which I always accommodate because of the remote. When they do- most laugh and some cry ("I always was told I couldn't play with trains because girls play with dolls" ... and my brothers got a Lionel train for Christmas and wouldn't share it. Really made me mad !". "Boy's toys are so much more fun". "Here you go- your turn has come, " I reply as I hand over the the remote. Priceless.
Grateful to be in such a wonderful hobby and also have the OGR forum as a platform to share information and ideas.
Merry Christmas.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Years!
I had to do a Christmas Day run(while getting smoked out). Merry Christmas, have a wonderful day with your families. Getting ready to go to my sister's for a fun filled day with her, my youngest niece, and food. My brother and I are so happy the Steelers won last night to boot. Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.

Merry Christmas!
It took several weeks to build but my 8 year old son and I got it done in time for Christmas. Every year we do something different and this year we went multilevel. We will keep this up in our family room until the end of January.

Great stuff everyone!
No village for me this year, just a circle under the tree with my 2018 pulling some Lionel Christmas cars. When I was just starting in the hobby 20 years ago and didn't know anything, the 2018 was my first PW purchase.
Merry Christmas
