I have a Lionel 6-28070 SP 4-4-2. Love the look and sound but, being an older engine, the chuff rate is once per wheel revolution. I don't believe there is any way to increase to 4 chuffs per revolution that I am aware of. Anyone else ever find a way to increase the rate?

Send it to GunrunnerJohn, if he has time to do it. He has some terrific circuit boards.
Yes, this should be upgraded to 4 chuffs. I did this to my Lionel PRR E6. You would need the Chuff Generator to replace the mechanical chuff switch in the engine.
Note that if you install the Chuff-Generator without a Super-Chuffer, you will need a source of 5VDC at around 40 milliamps to power the Chuff-Generator board. This is normally tapped off the Super-Chuffer for fan driven smoke installations, but with this locomotive you'll need a power source.
Being older Railsounds 4 boards don't always sound good at four chuffs. Might want to see if there some Railsounds 5 sounds that you might like and see of Lionel still list them in stock.
Performed an "operation". Disconnected the mechanical switch that activated the chuff, wired a reed switch to the chuff circuit, glued four 1/4 inch rare earth magnets to one of the driver wheels, positioned the reed switch for tripping and voila four chuffs per revolution. Not the most professional remedy; but it works and I'm satisfied.
