Hi all,

I'm in a process of rebuilding a Hudson 700E, and I purchased a Classic Commemorative

USA Hudson chassis. It's in great shape but when I put wheels in the center the wheels overlap,

did they make different chassis sizes for these trains like the 700E, 768, etc or do I need to

get a set of semi scale wheels for it?

Thanks

Tin

I believe Lionel modified the chassis in 1950 for the postwar 773 and it remained that way for the rest of the USA made Hudsons throughout the postwar and modern era. So, yes, the chassis of the prewar Hudsons will differ slightly from the chassis' of the Hudsons made after World War 2.

Unless you plan on running the engine on solid or "T" track, I recommend going for the semi-scale wheels so you can run on pretty much all 3-rail track. However, getting these wheels is not easy since Lionel doesn't usually offer the wheels separate from the chassis, such as the 18005 scale Hudson from Lionel Trains Inc. in 1990.
