I have two questions relative to a three truck Climax. What is the running speed and what is the chuff rate? All help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What is the running speed
Slow. 10 MPH is fast for a geared locomotive.
what is the chuff rate?
Like any two cylinder double acting steam engine, four chuffs for every revolution of the crank shaft.
I believe the Three Truck Shay has three cylinders. Only the early model Two Truck Shay has two cylinders. They're also a geared locomotive, and I'm pretty sure you get more than one "hit" on a cylinder for each rev of the drivers.
Yes
But he asked about a Climax.
Duh! You're right, I somehow read Shay.
OTOH, since it's also a geared locomotive, I'm not at all sure that the chuff rate would be as stated for each rev of the drivers. If you're not equating the chuff rate to the drivers, what is the yardstick.

As Ted said above:
