Thanks to the generosity of Owen, the AF key problem is being resolved. I was thinking about others who may share a similar predicament. The Classic Tin Toy Company does restorations and sells obscure parts and has an entire section on keys. I didnt have any luck but I thought I would post this in case it helps someone else as a shortcut by avoiding endless Ebay searches.

Thanks for the link! I'm glad Owen is making a key for your AF, hope you will post a picture when it is done.
About half of my keys originally came from clocks
Thank goodness for horologists, otherwise I would have some immobile loco's.
Great link.
I'll second that, prewar. I get most of my mainsprings (they also have keys) from this place:
Thanks WindupGuy, now they have another customer :-)
Mainsprings..! My thanks too. I "book- marked" the site.

nice source to ID keys. i have a small Triang key that looks like a subset of a few pictured. it works for the Marx speedway cars.
the Hafner and Marx (sq) keys seem a little pricey (@ $35).
for Hafner i believe a 10x32 screw works (also for early Flyer)
some smaller (later) Flyer keys are 8x32 threaded.
the Marx square key is 0.125" square stock.
pretty sure the early Marx screw keys are also 10x32 thread.
...save yourself $34.50.
cheers...gary
