Today was a day all too long coming. Today, I cut in the last sections of track on my two mainline loops. Whenever my two year old granddaughter comes over, it's always "Choo-Choo G-Pa, Choo-Choo!!!" For a while, she was satisfied seeing the trainroom and pushing some cars around. That just isn't cutting it anymore. There was just no more putting it off.

These sections were the most difficult, spanning from just before the furnace exhaust to one straight after my double crossover. Before I get nailed with comments, that is an insulated double wall stack that technically could be installed in direct contact with wood. There is a 2" air gap all around it.

The new sections are the left two tracks in the top picture. It is at the back of the house going through the wall. I have become quite a fan of GarGraves flex track.

Next step, wire 22 switch motors. As a matter of personal discipline, the switch motors will be wired before the track is powered.

No golden spike ceremony, yet. There are yard three sidings left to go......

Good work. I love attic layouts, for some reason.

Just got back from Portland, OR, where I finished wiring the turnouts on my friend's layout. Some of them were LGB machines using DC and some were Z-Stuff machines using AC, but with DC indicator lights. tedious, but fun.

When will the track be wired so trains can run?
