These are beautiful. I am not familiar with cmt.  Are these O gauge or standard gauge?  If they are O gauge how do I order without being at York?

They are Std Gauge.

Hope to see many of you Modern Era Standard Gauge fans at my tables at York to take a look at the latest from CMT.  Hojack was kind enough to let me serve as a "Beta Tester" of some of the new items as he began producing samples of updated and new designs.  They look great and operate smoothly.  I'm thrilled to help him showcase his efforts in a few weeks and I can't wait to see what comes out of CMT in the future.

Is there a way for those of us on the west coast, that are not fortunate enough to get to attend York, to order some of these beautiful looking cars? Contact information and pricing would be greatly appreciated!

What we have made so far, we are lugging down to York as a test run to gauge interest and feedback and see what sells.  After York, we'll get to work making up more of the ones that sell.  I'll make all of the cars pictured available here on the "for sale" forum, and probably also on the standard gauge section of eBay.  So this is a pre-York teaser, but we certainly haven't forgotten everyone else!

I'm trying to run pricing as low as I can and still cover costs.  They run from $70 to $95 per car depending on how difficult and costly the car is to build. All American made and sourced, so fabricating parts is not cheap, and these are all made by hand so it's crazy time consuming. The prices about cover costs as long as my assistant and I pay ourselves about $1.50 an hour.  But my committment is to make a (relatively) lower-cost alternative in Standard Gauge.

Parts for 5 different passenger cars are being made (4-door baggage; combine; coach; diner; and observation), and sets should be ready by Spring.  The big task is locomotives, and I hope to make progress on that this winter.  The tooling to make CMT's locomotives was scrapped, so unfortunately I will not be able to just bring those back.  We'll see what develops.

Hojack, shipping units unassembled might save costs and definitely manpower.

Jim, I'm 2 miles north of the fires starting point but winds so far have pushed everything south. My daughters in laws evacuated to her house, her brother in law evacuated to someone else house. Past TCA historian John Parker is on the south side, but a bit west of the danger area, although his daughter had to leave her home and is staying with him. Forum member CB Bob stayed at my place last night because he couldn't get home. The water dropping copters worked through the night and have made some progress.

do a rain dance and hope the prevailing winds continue to go the other way. Captain Cog is over to your place all the time anyway, probably has jammies in the car for just in case.

Steve, I was amazed when I looked up the fire on the map to see how close you are.  2 miles away is nothing with a fire like this. The evacuations are neighborhoods right next to you. It seems you have a river and the freeway between you and the fire, but that doesn't say it can't jump.  It's a big fire for such a populated area, this is not out in the boonies somewhere. We're thinking of you and your family. 

I went through a fire up in Yukon when I was taking the Alaska Highway one summer on my motorcycle, I was about the last they let through before they closed the road for a couple days. Fir trees were "candling off" on each side of the road, I just kept going. What reminded me was your mention of the water-dropping helicopters, one of them went over and dropped not far from me, I don't think he knew I was there. You do not want to be under one. Shall we say, they don't exactly spray a fine mist.

I was wondering about you Steve...my sister in law is in Orange, and the fire got to a mile from them before it shifted.

The 91 freeway and the Santa Ana River bed made for a super wide fire break for us. The fire started just of the 91 on the south side, luck for us the strong winds were blowing south and away from us, but moved the fire many miles south to the Irvine, Tustin and Orange areas.

On the topic of a wish list for the new CMT. Would you consider a classic double herald PFE reefer? I would prefer it be made without a car number and just an empty space. My intention would be to purchase several of these and I could number them myself so they would all have individual road numbers. I just recently had the sell my almost exhaustive collection of O scale Intermountain PFE kits to help fund the purchase of my next Standard Gauge piece and I would like to replace these a few Standard Gauge cars to scratch that itch.

Seems like that would be doable.  Like you say, the PFE is a classic. Something like this?

Let me get home from York and get caught up on standing orders, then let's talk.  I make my own decals, so there's no reason I couldn't number them individually. I've done some of that already, I numbered some of the NJ Cabooses differently, you just have to careful when you're doing a batch and not put different numbers on the 2 sides of the car! 

Terry, thanks for stopping by, it was good to finally meet you. Glad you like your NJ Central, I'm having a lot of fun making them!
