CMT Standard Gauge Camelback, It’s really done.

I think he didn’t believe me about the damage. Just couldn’t bare to let it go, so I ate it. From the outside it looked great, but the frame was bent, easy fix. The big issue was when it was dropped or whatever, the motor was slammed forward and took out a handful of teeth on the axle drive. No parts available. Dave at CMT sent me one of each type of gear he had, no luck. Took a long time, bit I found a CMC Mogul that was complete, but ugly. Stole the rear axle set from that and swapped it out. FYI, Camelbacks are a pain to reassemble.

Were you able to used the damaged gears to find replacement gears yet?

Congrats Steve.  It's beautiful.  The Camelback is my favorite standard gauge engine

I just built that one from a kit. Nice engine.

Thanks for sharing Steve! That's a great and pretty unusual tinplate engine. 

Not sure about your situation, but today, almost everything I send and receive is through USPS Priority Mail. They provide some insurance for free. It may not cover the whole item, but may defray some cost in a repair. You can also buy more as a shipper for a couple of bucks.

Right after I clear off the top of the layout. It's a mess..............again.

Jim, I used a CMC Bicentennial engine with ugly paint for the donor. It was a good runner, but I wanted the Camel Back running so I stole the geared wheel set. I'm hoping to find a replacement gear and bring it back to life also.
