My brother for several yrs now has been in charge of maintaining hiking trails near Halifax NS. and there is a CN caboose at the site that was rebuilt in 2000 and now needs paint as the older stuff is flaking off. Wondering which way to attack repainting the unit. Inline image 1This Caboose was built as a boxcar for the Canadian Government Railways (#552241) by National Steel Car of Hamilton, Ontario in 1918.  It was acquired by Canadian National Railways and used as a boxcar (#414391) until 1951 when it was rebuilt as a caboose (#78810) at the CN-Fort Rouge Shops in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  It was rebuilt again by the Musquodoboit Trailways Association in 2000.

Inline image 1I  tried again,  cut and paste from an email. He now also tells me what we see here is not but a little of the damage as water/moisture has soaked behind the paint and rotted the wood in places. One can find bubbles of water which has rotted the wood. I see the picture here in the post like I did the first time I posted it so somehow I hope it holds up
