This CNW caboose #11207 was donated by the U.P. to the Historic Clarke House about 16 years ago and was going to be used as part of the museum. At that time a number of neighbors complained that it was going to be an eyesore and they didn't want it in their backyard! So it sat!

Over the years neighbors moved, opinions changed and finally as of Saturday it arrived at its new home. After undergoing a restoration and paint job she looks like new again! Local companies and residents donated a lot of their time and talents to get the job done!

The inside still needs to be worked on and a few details on the outside but it is at its new home!

P.S. it is only 1 block form Sommerfeld's Train Store!

Mark: Good to hear about the project!  I'm gonna have to get by to see it during my next trip back to Wisconsin.  Didn't know about the Clark House, either since I moved away back in 1986.

Do you know what year the caboose was built?  Also, did it have more windows in it at one time?  I wonder if it had been painted red like most of their cabooses were prior to about 1960.

Thanks for the nice comments.

The caboose was originally built in 1974.

It is one of the newer ones CNW had built and was originally painted yellow and green just like it is now. They had a few pictures of it when it was new and this is exactly how it looked.

Even the same amount of windows. You can see patches where windows once were but this is exactly how it looked new!
