Isn't the FRA going to be mad at him for talking on his cell phone while operating a train?
Hmmm...perhaps we need a little anger management training...or he should just grow up!
These are the actions of a spoiled little child.
HAHA, just imagine how bad the working conditions are going to be in prison. and it will be a different kind of train being pulled by Bubba that hes gonna get to ride
I am curious why it wasn't reported how he stomped his feet until he got his way.
I agree, what a child. luckily no one was killed.

If he doesn't get prison time, it's a miscarriage of justice! They should throw the book at him! Also, who pays for the hundreds of thousands in damage he caused in his little rampage? What would you suggest, a slap on the wrist?
gunrunnerjohn, I'm not suggesting he doesn't deserve prison time. He could have really hurt a bunch of people, and I can't image what it will cost to repair the locos.
I'm just asking what everyone thinks will realistically happen to the guy. Perhaps because of the federal violations, the punishment will be harsher.
A different question, I suspect the slap on the wrist.
Well he committed multiple felonies and used a train as a weapon, it is a miracle nobody got hurt. I think he will get a few years as a guest in a federal prision
Crimes committed on/with railroad equipment or property are a serious Federal Offense. This individual will also face charges of reckless endangerment, theft of equipment, vandalism, willful destruction of property, evading arrest, operating a locomotive without certification, operating over a posted safe speed limit, and probably 20 other charges. If found guilty you can bet he will be sentenced and imprisoned for a long time or locked up in a mental institution.
I guess we should be glad that he didn't have a gun handy. I am in favor of him having a long enough time behind bars to understand the errors in his ways. In many ways a train is more dangerous than a gun.

There is always a silver lining - he could have been working for an airline.
As others have said, this guy needs prision time for the damage done, and what could have happened.
But when I see criminals getting slap on the wrist sentences, I doubt he will get anywhere close to what he deserves.

Yes, and the prosecutor will drop three quarters of the charges, plead him down on the rest, and he will receive concurrent sentencing. He'll be out in 3.5 to 8, but probably earlier if he goes around talking to troubled teens and helps paint the church.
Some guys like Federal time better, than State time!

Wyoming is not known for going easy on destructive people. I think this guy is likely mentally ill.

Chain him to the front of a coal train, or better, chain him to a last car of a coal train. And make a trip to a power plant a long long way from the mine. And at the power plant give him a shovel to unload the coal.
Dang! These shoplifters will try to carry anything outta Walmart!
He could have gotten in a Truck and driven out of the state at 75 Miles per hour, never coming back to that job.
Andrew
Unbelievable. Obviously suffering from severe exposure to Moronium because he's obviously a moron.
The all the coal plants where I delivered trains have split point derails, one has a powered split point derail. At least a contractor cannot pull out on to the main there unless the dispatcher lines the switch and derail together.
But, I just loaded coal in Illinois and that line has a direct connection to the main, in fact during most of the loading the train is on the main track. Even though it is a branch line and even though a railroad crew does the loading, nutty people can do a lot of harm.

Mr Peabody's coal train, he done hauled it away!
Well..he really resolved that issue in his favor by shooting himself in both feet and then jumping off a bridge. I can only imagine the kind of bill he will receive from the court to boot. Yeah..that really showed them...duh. Can you imagine this bozo being hired with that work record? He triple sabotaged himself. Brilliant.

I was working on the NS when all the new regulations were put into place following the Ca. commuter train accident. I remember hearing that violation carried a $17,000.00 fine as part of the punishment!

Oh this guy is a real genius.
I agree with gunrunnerjohn. No one was harmed, drugs or guns were not involved. Not domestic violence or terrorism. Slap on the wrist and the rest is up to the insurance companies.
Not judging the goodness or badness or rightness or wrongness of that just the way it is idness.
About 5 years ago I witnessed 3 people absolutely destroy a big Mercedes with bats and the then set it on fire. Police response when I called them? Don't bother us, it's an insurance company issue.
